Otto Schill

Otto Schill (born December 9, 1838 in Schneeberg , † February 28, 1918 in Leipzig ) was a German lawyer and national liberal politician .

From 1882 to 1899, the attorney at law, Schill, chaired the Leipzig city council. From 1883 to 1909 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament . From 1901 he acted as vice-president of the chamber.

Otto Schill was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leipzig in 1899 . Because of his services to the city of Leipzig, the former Dorotheenstrasse (south of the Thomaskirche ) was renamed Otto-Schill-Strasse during his lifetime on April 19, 1912 .
