Otto Stückrath

Otto Stückrath (born December 17, 1885 in Hahnstätten , † January 13, 1968 in Wiesbaden ) was a German teacher and folklorist.

Career

Stückrath taught in Bretthausen (Westerwald) from 1905 , later in Oberauroff . In 1910 he came to Biebrich . He was a member of the SPD and a city councilor. Political reasons led to his suspension in 1941. In 1944/45 he was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp . After the end of the war he was the school principal. In 1947 he retired.

He earned services for the preservation of fairy tales and folk songs. He was the head of the folk song collection point in Frankfurt am Main and Nassau and editor of the Hessen-Nassau library .
