Otto Volkmann (politician)

Otto Volkmann (born October 4, 1883 in Angerburg ; † July 9, 1959 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ). From 1947 to 1950 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After attending primary school , he trained as a locksmith and lathe operator . He then worked in the coal and steel industry. Volkmann became a member of the SPD in 1905; from 1918 to 1933 he volunteered for the party. From 1905 Volkmann was a member of the German Metal Workers' Association and later managing director of the union in the administrations of Mülheim an der Ruhr , Neheim-Hüsten and Remscheid .

Volkmann was department head at Westfalenhütte Dortmund AG after the Second World War . He was active again in the union and from 1947 was full-time district secretary of IG Metall . He was also a member of the Dortmund city ​​council. From April 20, 1947 to June 17, 1950 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. He was directly elected in constituency 107 Dortmund II.
