Otto Wilke (politician)

Otto Wilke (born April 13, 1937 in Korbach ; † November 6, 2018 ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After attending primary school, Wilke completed an apprenticeship as a plumber from 1952 to 1955. In 1962/63 he attended the Federal Institute for Electrical Engineering in Oldenburg , passed the master craftsman's examination and in 1967 took over his parents' plumbing business in Adorf .

Political party

Wilke joined the FDP in 1955 and was then chairman of the Young Democrats for the North Hesse district until 1963 . In 1968 he was elected district chairman of the FDP Waldeck-Frankenberg and 1977 deputy state chairman of the FDP Hessen . Later he took over the function of treasurer of the Hessian liberals.

Wilke was elected to the district assembly of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district and had been chairman of the FDP parliamentary group there since 1989 . He belonged to the Hessian state parliament from 1970 to 1982 and from 1983 to 1995, was deputy chairman there from 1974 to 1977 and chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1977 to 1982 and from 1987 to 1991. Until May 2nd, 2011 he was an honorary district member in Waldeck-Frankenberg . Wilke was a member of the FDP federal executive committee from 1986 to 1992. He was honorary chairman of the FDP Waldeck-Frankenberg and deputy state chairman of the Liberal Seniors Hesse.

From 2006 to 2011 Wilke was chairman of the Diemelsee Nature Park e. V. and board member of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park .

Honors

In 2002 Otto Wilke was honored with the Wilhelm Leuschner Medal , the highest award in the State of Hesse . He was also a holder of the Great Federal Cross of Merit .
