Ottone Rosai
Ottone Rosai (born April 28, 1895 in Florence , † May 13, 1957 in Ivrea ) was an Italian painter of Futurism and Novecento .
Life
Rosai first completed a three-year painting course at the Istituto delle Arti Decorative in Santa Croce and, from 1909, attended courses at the Florentine Art Academy . Through his friendship with Giovanni Papini and Aldo Palazzeschi , he came into contact with Marinetti , who soon accepted him into the circle of Futurists. From 1914 Rosai published numerous drawings in the culture magazine Lacerba . After the war he turned away from the futuristic style of painting and turned to the Novecento. In addition, he was involved in the Fasci di combattimento fiorentino . His first solo exhibition took place in 1920, which was to be followed by others. In 1942 he received the chair for painting at the Academy in Florence . During the major retrospective of his life's work in Ivrea, he suffered a heart attack and died a little later.
