Aldo Palazzeschi

Aldo Palazzeschi (born February 2, 1885 in Florence , † August 17, 1974 in Rome ), actually Aldo Giurlani, was an Italian writer , poet and intellectual .

Live and act

After symbolist beginnings as part of the Italian crepuscolarismo movement ( I cavalli bianchi 1905, Lanterna 1907) and a novel approaching the d'Annuncian fin de siècle ( : riflessi 1908), Palazzeschi found acceptance into the Milanese futurism of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti (He also published Palazzeschi's L'incendiario in 1910 and the novel Il codice di Perelà in 1911) and became a co-founder of the initially more moderate Florentine Futurism (around the journal Lacerba , with Giovanni Papini and Ardengo Soffici ). However, he distances himself decisively when the Futurists greet and celebrate World War I as a purifying force. His work Due imperi ... mancati (1920) is an expression of his pacifism and his deep rejection of war . In 1957 he received an international Antonio Feltrinelli Prize .

Palazzeschi lived mainly in Florence, Venice and Rome, where he finally died on August 17, 1974.
