The Ottoplatz is located in the Cologne district of Deutz on the Opladener / corner Auenweg. It is the forecourt of the Köln Messe / Deutz station .

There is a memorial in honor of Nikolaus Otto and Eugen Langen on Ottoplatz .

The course was included as a measure through the Regional 2010 funding program. The square was rebuilt from 2012 to 2014 for 1.9 million euros. In 2017, this was awarded the German Landscape Architecture Prize in the Landscape Architecture in Detail category . Natural stones in different colors mediate between the existing 1913 and the new paving. Longitudinal apron conveyors embedded in the floor give the square a direction. This effect is reinforced by tree settlements and two long benches made of high-quality precast concrete parts, which at the same time complement the missing spatial edges and mediate between the different building heights.

With the renovation, the space in its usable area for major events was significantly increased.

The area of Ottoplatz is divided by four streets: In addition to the primary area in front of the train station, the western part extends in front of the Kölntriangle (Ottoplatz 1) and the southern part in front of the LVR-Haus (Ottoplatz 2). The planned new construction of the LVR house by the Rhineland Regional Council will emphasize the character of the square again. Next to it there is a plane tree that characterizes the place and is considered a natural monument. The Cologne Cathedral can be seen from this point . The Ottoplatz then continues with outdoor catering behind the historic Heidelberger Fass hotel and restaurant building with its striking corner entrance. To the southeast, Ottoplatz is framed by the Constantin Höfe (Ottoplatz 6). To the east there is an open space that is used as a parking lot and allows a line of sight to the nearby town hall and Lanxess Arena from the train station (Ottoplatz 7).
