The German Landscape Architecture Prize , which was BDLA Prize until 1991 , is an award that has been awarded every two years since 1977 by the Association of German Landscape Architects (BDLA).

Basics

The German Landscape Architecture Prize honors exemplary projects in contemporary, socially and ecologically oriented open space and landscape planning and their authors. An award is given to outstanding planning services that have aesthetically sophisticated and innovative solutions.

The jury consists of at least five independent experts, including a member of the BDLA presidium. The jury can award up to two first prizes and up to eight awards.

In 2009, the BDLA offered a special prize for the first time parallel to the German Landscape Architecture Prize. In that year, the private garden was the focus of the competition for the special prize 2009 as a place of innovation, as a space for play and action and as a modern link between architecture and landscape. The special prize 2011 was dedicated to the design of open spaces as a quality assurance for urban living. It was awarded to outstanding outdoor facilities in the immediate and wider residential area.

In 2013 special prizes were announced again; The jury awarded special prizes in the categories “Living Environment” and “Infrastructure and Landscape” to outstanding planning achievements from the submitted competition entries.

From 2001 to 2015 the competition was documented in book form as part of a publication issued by the BDLA (see #Literature ).
