Karl Bauer (born December 31, 1940 in Pforzheim ) is a German landscape architect and architect .

Life

After attending primary school (in Niefern and Karlsruhe ), Karl Bauer completed an apprenticeship as an electrical mechanic in 1955–58. He passed his Abitur in 1962 at the Technical High School in Stuttgart . 1962-69 he studied architecture at the University of Karlsruhe , where he worked as a research assistant at the chair for building construction and design at Immanuel Kroeker from 1965-69 . 1969-76 he was a research assistant to Gunnar Martinsson at his in 1965 newly founded Chair of Landscape and Garden. As part of this activity, Bauer also held independent courses .

In the years 1970–1994 he took over the processing of projects in the field of open space planning in a project partnership with Gunnar Martinsson . In 1972, Bauer started his freelance work in the areas of open space planning , urban design and in the border area between urban and landscape planning with the establishment of his own office . Since 1975, Bauer is a freelance architect, as a freelance landscape architect in since 1978 Chamber of Architects Baden-Wuerttemberg registered.

From 1976 to 1979, Bauer held several teaching positions at the University of Karlsruhe. In the years 2003-08 he worked as a deputy professor at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences , where he was entrusted with the development of the teaching and research area “Open space and landscape, urban engineering, design”.

In 2008 he entered into an office partnership with Willi Hildebrandt, from which he left in 2010. In 2011, Bauer handed over his collected plans, sketches, project files and photos (a total of 14,939 plans in paper form and 721 folders with project files as well as approx. 12,000 digital plans with the associated project files) to the saai (Southwest German Archive for Architecture and Civil Engineering) at KIT Karlsruhe.

Karl Bauer lives and works in Karlsruhe, is married and has a daughter.
