Felix Schwarz (born April 26, 1917 in Bremgarten AG ; † January 22, 2013 in Zurich ; resident in Uesslingen-Buch ) was a Swiss architect .

Life

Family and education

The out of the Canton of Aargau located small town originating Bremgarten Felix Schwarz, son of senior of Felix Schwarz and his wife Maria nee Baumann, turned to the acquisition of the Swiss Matura the study of architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich to which he in 1944 with Hans Hofmann graduated with the diploma . Felix Schwarz's first marriage was to Benett (1910–1971) , a librarian and writer Lotte Schwarz, who had emigrated to Switzerland from Hamburg in 1934 for political reasons . In 1974 he married Marianne Brigitte, the daughter of Johann Peter Jakob Dietz, for the second time. Felix Schwarz died in January 2013 at the old age of 95.

Professional background

After completing his degree, Felix Schwarz got a job at the Zurich architecture firm Knell & Hässig. Felix Schwarz, who took part in several competitions with Aldo van Eyck between 1944 and 1948, founded a working group with Rolf Gutmann in 1956. In addition, he held lectureships from 1969 to 1971 at the architecture department of the University of Geneva and from 1971 to 1972 at the architecture department of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Schwarz, whose main work is the new building of the Basel City Theater, which was built between 1969 and 1975 , was a member of the Federation of Swiss Architects , the Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne , the Organization Internationale des Scénographes, Techniciens et Architectes de Théâtre and the Swiss Engineer - and Architects Association (SIA) .
