course
The valley of the Oued Bouanane has its origin on the south side of the mountain range, whose north side drains to the Moulouya and thus to the Mediterranean. One of the highest peaks of this mountain range in the eastern High Atlas (approx. 2320 m ) rises above the headwaters . With a general south-east direction, the river cuts through several mountain chains of the Atlas Mountains until it reaches its south side and unites in a plateau with the Oued Guir. As the main tributary from the left and north, the Oued Bouanane receives the Oued Kheng Grou at kilometer 125 .
Important settlements and river oases on the Oued Bouanane are Beni Tadjite at kilometer 88 , Beni Bassia follows at kilometer 122 and finally Bouanane is at kilometer 162 . This place gave the river its name.
