Outer Banks is an American television series that was released on April 15, 2020 by the US video-on-demand provider Netflix . The idea for Outer Banks came from Josh Pate , Jonas Pate , and Shannon Burke.

Outer Banks follows a group of teenagers in the Outer Banks of North Carolina , the Pogues , in contrast to the rich Kooks are called and are determined to find out what happened to the missing father of John B. In the meantime, they discover a legendary treasure that has been sought by treasure hunters for more than 100 years, and in whose footsteps John B's father was also found. The enormous value of the treasure, which is being challenged against all expectations, could mean the "ticket" into the world of the Kooks. But what does his disappearance have to do with the treasure hunt? And will they manage to win the treasure for themselves?

On May 3, 2019, it was announced that Netflix had placed the production with a series contract for a first season of ten episodes. The idea for the series comes from Josh and Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke.

Along with the series’s first announcement, it has been reported that Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Charles Esten, Austin North and Drew Starkey have been cast in the lead roles. On July 2, 2019, Caroline Arapoglou joined the cast in a recurring role.

Filming began on May 1, 2019 in Charleston , South Carolina .

The series was released on Netflix on April 15, 2020.

In July 2020, the series was extended for a second season.
