Outremont (Metro Montreal)
Outremont is a subway station in Montreal . It is located in the Outremont arrondissement at the intersection of Avenue Van Horne and Avenue Wiseman. Trains of the blue line 2 run here . In 2006, 1,176,723 passengers used the station, which corresponds to the 57th place out of a total of 68 stations on Metro Montreal .
Building
The station designed by Jean-Claude Dupuis, Pierre-Alain Chapuis and Michel Dubuc was created in the form of a tunnel station . The central architectural element is a large light shaft, the inside of which is clad with metal tiles and glass bricks. It lets the daylight shine down on the distribution level and the platforms. Tiles in earthy tones, floors made of reddish granite and benches and decorative elements made of gray granite give the station a classic and formal impression.
The platform level with two side platforms is 13.8 meters deep . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from the end of the station to the start of the station, are 728.60 meters to Acadie and 1090.60 meters to Édouard-Montpetit . There are connections to two bus routes and two night bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal .

On the distribution level there is a mural by Gilbert Poissant, consisting of ceramic tiles in different colors. Doors and portals of residential and public buildings are shown, the shapes of which are typical for Outremont.
history
The station opened on January 4, 1988, along with the Parc - Snowdon section of the blue line. It is named after the district of Outremont, in the center of which the station is located. In 1833 Louis-Tancrède Bouthillier had built a representative country house, which he called Outre-Mont ("on the other side of the mountain", based on the location on the north-western slope of Mont Royal ). This name passed to the community of Outremont, founded in 1875, which merged with Montreal in 2002.
