Ove Christian Christensen (born August 18, 1856 in Copenhagen ; † November 5, 1909 there ) was a Danish violinist, pianist and composer.

As a child Christensen had lessons from Emilio Wilhelm Ramsøe and was thirteen years old piano student of Edmund Neupert . From 1876 to 1877 he was a student of Johann Peter Emilius Hartmann and Niels Wilhelm Gade at the Royal Conservatory . After further piano studies with Neupert and violin training with Valdemar Tofte , he was royal court musician in Saint Petersburg for ten years , first as a violinist and later as a pianist.

Due to his poor health, he had to give up the job and returned to Copenhagen as a music teacher. He also performed here as a solo and chamber musician and founded the music association For Vorening . In 1900 he was awarded the honorary title of professor. After his death, his children set up a foundation to promote talented Danish musicians. Their best-known scholarship recipient was the pianist Herman D. Koppel , a student of Carl Nielsen and an important interpreter of his piano works.
