Ove Karlsson (journalist)

Ove Karlsson (* 1944 in Motala ) is a Swedish sports journalist . The multiple author on the history of the Olympic Games was 1991 founding member of the International Society of Olympic Historians .

Career

Karlsson began his journalism career in 1964 with the Swedish sports newspaper Idrottsbladet . In 1967 he moved to the Associated Press before joining Svensk Idrott , the press organ of the Swedish Sports Federation in 1971 . As a result, he was involved in a number of publications and books by the Sveriges Olympiska Kommitté . This was also the case in 1976 after he moved to the Brunnhages publishing house , which later became part of Strömbergs / Brunnhages . He was employed by the publisher until 1991, and since then has worked as a freelance journalist.

Between 1973 and 1981, Karlsson was a member of the Executive Committee of the Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive . In 1986 he was one of the founders of the Sveriges Olympiahistorikers Förening and was secretary of the organization until 1988. In 1991 he was one of the founding members of the International Society of Olympic Historians , for whose Journal of Olympic History he subsequently appeared as an author and of which he sat on the executive committee from 2004. He also distinguished himself as the founding president of the Swedish Ice Hockey Historical and Statistical Society, which was founded in 1994, specializing in Olympic ice hockey.
