The Oviedo Cove ( Spanish Caleta Oviedo , in Chile Caleta Andonaegui ) is a bay at the northeastern end of Seymour Island off the north east coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located southeast of Cape Wiman .

A commission of the Argentine Ministry of Defense made the designation in 1979. It is named after Jorge Oviedo, an officer in the Argentine Air Force who died on December 5, 1977 together with two other crew members when a helicopter crashed not far from the Marambio station . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 1991. The namesake of the Chilean name is the NCO Alfredo Andonaegui, who was involved in rescuing the crew of the damaged tourist ship Lindblad Explorer in Admiralty Bay in 1972 on board the Yelcho .
