The Owlshead Peak (English for Owl Head Mountain ) is a 300 m high mountain on the Loubet coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 2.5 km east of Cape Bellue .
Aerial photographs were taken between 1956 and 1957 during the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition . From Darbel Bay and Crystal Sound , its profile is reminiscent of that of an owl's head , which led to its descriptive naming in 1960 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee .
