Oxana Iwaniwna Syroiid ( Ukrainian Оксана Іванівна Сироїд , born May 2, 1976 in Horodyschtsche , Sokal district , Lviv Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian lawyer and politician of the Samopomich party . She was elected vice-president of the Verkhovna Rada in December 2014 as the first woman . She is also director of the "Ukrainian Legal Foundation".

biography

Oxana Ivaniwna Syroiid was born on May 2, 1976 in Horodyche. In 1993 she graduated from a school in Tscherwonohrad . From July 1994 to February 1996 she was deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Republican Party . In 1997 she graduated from the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy with a degree in political science . In 2000 she completed her studies in law at the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev . From October 2000 to July 2001, she was legal advisor to the United Nations Development Program in Support of Economic, Social and Administrative Reforms in Ukraine. From September 2002 to November 2003 she studied at the University of Ottawa , where she obtained a Master of Laws . From November 2002 to April 2003 she worked as an intern at the international law firm Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in Ottawa . From June 2004 to August 2012 she worked as the OSCE project coordinator in Ukraine.

In the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2014 , Syroyid was in fourth place on the list of the Samopomich party and was elected as a member of the Verkhovna Rada.
