OY is a Swiss electro music duo, consisting of the singer Joy Frempong and the drummer Marcel Blatti aka “Lleluja-Ha”, whose predominantly electronic-futuristic music style is influenced by African sounds and singing. The program is underlaid with stories that are recorded with a looper, played back in layers and accompanied by an instrument.
history
OY started in 2010 as a solo music project by the musician Frempong, who was born in Ghana in 1978 and grew up in Switzerland at the age of seven and who was touring with various bands, including “ Filewile ” at the time. She released her first solo album under the pseudonym "OY", on which she had been brooding for four years and the first pressing of which was soon sold out. Since then, the Swiss-Ghanaian musician has been accompanied on drums by the cult musician and composer Marcel Blatti aka Lleluja-Ha. Both live in Berlin today . Victoria Behr designed his stage costume .
