Live and act

Frempong, born in Ghana to a Ghanaian father and a Swiss mother, moved with her family to Switzerland at the age of seven, where she grew up in Dietlikon . She completed her Matura in 1998 in Zurich , where she also began studying ethnology and at the same time attended the preliminary course for the jazz school. From 2000 she studied jazz singing in Bern , specializing in pedagogy and composition at the Bern University of Music and Theater .

Frempong was and is active as a singer in various bands and music projects. From 2006 to 2009 she sang with the experimental group “Lauschangriff” and since 2007 with the electro dub band “ Filewile ”. In 2007 she started the joint music project "Tinpong" with the musician and DJ William Bottin . The improv jazz trio Hans Koch , Martin Schütz and Fredy Studer also hired Frempong as a singer for a number of projects. Fredy Studer and Frempong are both also members of the band "Phall Fatale", founded in 2008, where Frempong not only sings, but also plays samplers and various small instruments. In these different formations she performed at the Taktlos Festival in 2007, 2010 and 2012 .

In 2010, after four years of work, she released her first solo album, First Box Then Walk, under the pseudonym “Oy Rempong” or “OY” for short on the Swiss label Creaked Records and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The first pressing of the album was immediately sold out. After the film composer Marcel Blatti aka “Lleluja-Ha” joined “Oy” as drummer, the duo released their second project album in 2013, Kokokyinaka . The duo has been touring internationally since then. She performed with Philippe Ehinger in 2012; the concert album Les voisins ne parlent pas tous la même langue was created for Unit Records .
