The University of Education, Fukuoka ( Jap. 福岡教育大学 , Fukuoka Kyōiku daigaku ; Engl. Fukuoka University of Education , in short Fukkyōdai ( 福教大 )) is a public educational college in Japan . The main campus is located in Munakata in Fukuoka prefecture .

history

The university was founded in 1949 through the merger of the three state normal schools . The three were:

  • the Fukuoka First Normal School ( 福岡 第一 師範学校 , Fukuoka dai-ichi shihan gakkō , in Fukuoka, founded in 1873),
  • the Second Normal School Fukuoka ( 福岡 第二 師範学校 , Fukuoka dai-ni shihan gakkō , in Kokura ( Kitakyūshū ), founded 1908), and
  • the normal youth school in Fukuoka ( 福岡 青年 師範学校 , Fukuoka his shihan gakkō , in Kurume , founded in 1921).

Fukuoka First Normal School

The normal school was founded in 1873 as a prefectural teacher training institution. In 1903 the women's department became an independent normal women's school. In 1908 the normal school (men) was renamed the Fukuoka Prefectural Normal School ( 福岡 県 福岡 師範学校 , Fukuoka-ken Fukuoka shihan gakkō ).

In 1943 the prefectural men's and women's normal schools were merged to form the state First Normal School in Fukuoka. In June 1945, during the Pacific War , the women's department school buildings were destroyed; In 1946 the department moved to Kurume, to the former military base.

In the former campus of the Fukuoka First Normal School are now the affiliated elementary and middle schools of the Fukuoka University of Education (Fukuoka: 33 ° 35 ′ 44.4 ″  N , 130 ° 22 ′ 25.2 ″  E ; Kurume: 33 ° 17 ′ 38 , 8 ″  N , 130 ° 31 ′ 1 ″  O ).

Second normal school in Fukuoka

The normal school was founded in 1908 under the name Kokura Prefectural Normal School ( 福岡 県 小 倉 師範学校 , Fukuoka-ken Kokura shihan gakkō ). It was a school for men only. In 1943 it was raised to a state college and renamed Fukuoka Second Normal School. In April 1945, the Department for Women in Tagawa was established.

On the former campus of the Fukuoka Second Normal School (men) are now the affiliated elementary and middle schools of the Fukuoka University of Education ( 33 ° 52 ′ 48.7 ″  N , 130 ° 53 ′ 55.2 ″  E ). The headquarters of the women's department is now the Fukuoka Prefectural University campus ( 福岡 県 立 大学 , Fukuoka-kenritsu daigaku , 33 ° 38 ′ 56.2 ″  N , 130 ° 48 ′ 55.7 ″  E ).

Fukuoka Youth Normal School

The normal youth school was founded in 1921 as a training institution for teachers at the advanced training schools. In 1935 it became a training institution for teachers in youth schools. In 1944 she was raised to the state normal youth school in Fukuoka. In 1947 she moved from Chikugo to Kurume, the former seat of a tank regiment ( 33 ° 17 ′ 27.5 ″  N , 130 ° 32 ′ 54.6 ″  E ).

Fukuoka Pedagogical College

The college opened in 1949 as the Fukuoka Liberal Arts College ( 福岡 学 芸 大学 , Fukuoka gakugei daigaku ). She first had five branch schools in Fukuoka, Kokura (Kitakyushu), Tagawa, and Kurume (two). In 1966 it was renamed Fukuoka University of Education, and the locations were merged to form what is now the Munakata campus. In 1990 she founded the Graduate School (master’s courses).
