The Pontifical Lombard Seminary of Saints Ambrose and Charles (it. Pontificio Seminario Lombardo dei santi Ambrogio e Carlo in Urbe ; short Pontificio Seminario Lombardo ) is a seminary in Rome .

The Lombard Seminary was founded in 1854 by the bishops of Lombardy and on December 15, 1890 by Pope Leo XIII. Erected with the Breve In supremo . Originally, the seminary was used to train priests in Lombardy.

Under Rector Francesco Bertoglio, the (then) seminar building was a refuge in 1943 for 65 persecuted Jews who were rescued from being transported to Auschwitz . In 2011, Bertoglio received the Righteous Among the Nations award posthumously from the State of Israel .

The seminary of the Bishops' Conference of Lombardy is particularly dependent on the Holy See and promotes students at the Pontifical Universities . It is also open to non-Lombard and non-Italian clergy. Today's seminar building at Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore 5 was built from 1963 and on November 11, 1965 by Pope Paul VI. opened.
