Diego Coletti (born September 25, 1941 in Milan ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Como .

Diego Coletti studied in the seminary from 1960 and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Milan on June 26, 1965 . From 1965 to 1968 he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University . After teaching at various seminaries in the ecclesiastical province of Milan from 1968 to 1983, he became rector of the Lombard seminary in Rome in 1989. In 1991 Pope John Paul II appointed him Consultor of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life .

John Paul II appointed Coletti Bishop of Livorno on December 9, 2000 . The Archbishop of Milan , Carlo Maria Cardinal Martini SJ , donated him episcopal ordination on January 13 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Bernardo Citterio , auxiliary bishop in Milan, and Alberto Ablondi , former bishop of Livorno. As a motto he chose Consummati in unum . In December 2004 Coletti also became Consultor of the Congregation for Catholic Education and in May 2005 President of the Episcopal Commission in the same Congregation.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Como on December 2, 2006, and he was instituted on January 28 of the next year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 4, 2016.
