Alberto Ablondi (born December 18, 1924 in Milan , Italy , † August 21, 2010 in Livorno ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Livorno .

Life

Ablondi was ordained a priest on May 31, 1947 and was incardinated in the Diocese of Ventimiglia-San Remo . He then worked as a pastor in San Remo . After further degrees in archeology (1947), philosophy (1950) and law (1955), he taught literature and philosophy and religion at the seminary in Bordighera and religion at the Cassini seminary in San Remo.

Pope Paul VI appointed him titular bishop of Mulli in 1966 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Livorno . He received his episcopal ordination on October 1, 1966, Felicissimo Stefano Tinivella OFM, coadjutor archbishop of Turin; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Siena , Ismaele Mario Castellano OP, and Emilio Biancheri , Bishop of Rimini . He was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Massa Marittima from 1966 to 1970. In 1970 he was installed as Coadjutor Bishop in the Diocese of Livorno; on September 26, 1970, Ablondi was appointed Bishop of Livorno. His age-related resignation was granted in 2000 by Pope John Paul II .

Ablondi was Vice-President of the Italian Bishops' Conference and a member of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity . From 1984 to 1996 he was President of the Catholic Biblical Federation .

He was Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic . Ablondi was an honorary citizen of Livorno and San Remo.
