The 14th Youth Pétanque World Championship took place from August 30th to September 1st, 2013 in Montauban in the south of France . It was played in the Triplette formation with a substitute. Only players born in 1996 or younger, i.e. no more than 17 years old, were eligible to play .
At the same time as the Triplette World Championship, the 7th World Youth Championship took place in the Tir de précision , for which each participating nation was allowed to nominate a shooter .
30 nations took part in both competitions. The host France and the reigning world champion Thailand were allowed to provide two teams in the Triplette, so that 32 teams played for this title. The defending champion in the Tir de précision, Diego Rizzi from Italy , did not take part in the championships because he was too old in 1994.
Both disciplines were organized by the world association FIPJP .
Triplets
32 teams from 30 nations take part in the triplet competition. Each team may replace a player and a substitute player once during a game. After this no more players may be exchanged. Because of the mode , each team has at least six games ahead of them.
Attendees
The list of participating nations was published a good month before the start of the World Cup. As in 2011, 32 teams are taking part in the triplet competition.

Participating players
All teams announced their World Cup line-up no later than two weeks before the start of the tournament.
The DPV , vice world champion in 2011, nominated the following four players for the tournament: Sven Laube (BC Saarwellingen / Saarland), Luis Maecker (Vogelsberger BF / Hessen), André Skiba (BC Edingen Neckarhausen / Baden-Württemberg) and Simon Striegel (BC Ettenheim / Baden-Württemberg).
Apart from Striegel, who was also at the World Championships in Kemer , the nominated team has no international experience and is therefore more likely to be classified as an outsider.
The players in italics also take part in the Tireur competition.
mode
As in 2011, the competition will be held in two phases:
Phase 1: - Swiss system
The 32 participants play five preliminary rounds according to the Swiss system, at the end of which 16 teams with 3 or more wins remain in the tournament. The remaining teams play after the preliminary round in the so-called Coupe de nations, the "B tournament".
During the preliminary round, the game is played with a time limit of 1 hour + 2 recordings .
Phase 2: - KO system
In both the main tournament and the coupe de nations, the players in the final are then sought in the eighth, quarter and semifinals.
The game is played according to a tree structure , so that the first and second can only meet in the final after the preliminary round.
Time schedule
The general assembly of the youth department of the world association takes place one day before the official start of the competition.
On Friday morning, the nations can expect an official performance in downtown Montauban before the sporting part of the World Cup begins.
The future world champion has to complete 9 games over 3 days, for the 30 participants in precision shooting there are up to 5 exercises of 20 shots each.
There is only one award ceremony for both competitions on Sunday evening before the traditional gala dinner for all participants, delegates, referees and officials concludes the championships.

In the preliminary round there is a time limit (60min. + 2 recordings).
Teams that have already played against each other cannot meet again in the preliminary round.

The still undefeated teams were now mainly playing for a good starting position for the knockout round. France A - Thailand B and France B - Spain were these exciting top games in which the French team prevailed.
Switzerland expected a difficult lot with Monaco and lost just 9:13.

Final round
Coupe des nations
Tir de precision
In the Tir de précision (zD: Precision Shooting ) there is one representative from each nation. André Skiba started for Germany. Defending champion Diego Rizzi (Italy) is not there. In the preliminary round, all 30 athletes shot a complete round of 20 shots. The first 4 of the preliminary round reached the quarter-finals directly, the Tirure in places 5–21 went into the Repêchage, the second chance in which the best four also qualified for the quarter-finals. From the quarterfinals on, the knockout system, Tireur versus Tireur, continued.
Preliminary round
The best result of the preliminary round was achieved by Guillaume Magier (France) with 45 points. André Skiba reached the Repêchage in eighth place with 27 points.
Repêchage
In the Repêchage, the shooters, who landed in the preliminary round in places 5-21, competed. The first four of this round also qualified for the quarter-finals. André Skiba and the Swiss starter Gaetan Ammann clearly missed the quarter-finals.
The Pole Sergiusz Gadek only missed the final because he had scored fewer "fives" than the fourth from Luxembourg with the same number of points.
Final round
In the final round it was shot in the knockout system, the first round (V1) against the fourth of the Repêchage (R4), V2 against R3 etc. became world champion, as later in the triplet with Thailand B, Thanakorn Sangkaew, who with 56 points in the final against Miguel Trujillo (Spain) also ensured the highest tournament score.
