Péter Györkös

Péter Györkös (born November 10, 1963 in Zirc , Veszprém county ) is a Hungarian diplomat .

Life

Péter Györkös graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in international relations, from which he graduated in 1988. In 1992 he received his doctorate from the University of Economics in Budapest , the title of his doctoral thesis is "Plans for German Unity in the Period of the Division and Unification of Germany".

From 1988 to 1991 he was a Germany officer at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry in Budapest. He then worked until 1996 at the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Bonn as head of the political department and second secretary of the embassy. After various functions in the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, he was Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary in Zagreb / ​​Croatia from 2007 to 2009 and from 2010 Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Representation of Hungary to the EU in Brussels / Belgium. In 2015 he was succeeded by Olivér Várhelyi .

In November 2015, Györkös replaced Ambassador József Czukor in Berlin . As the ambassador of Hungary, he is a member of the international award committee of the Adalbert Foundation .

In addition to Hungarian, Péter Györkös speaks English, German, French, Russian and Croatian.

He is married and has two children.
