Pönitz Lake District

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pönitz Lake District is formed by three lakes in the Ostholstein district near the village of Pönitz in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein . Since 2003, large parts of the area have been specially protected as the Pönitzer Seenplatte and Haffwiesen landscape protection area. The Pönitz Lake District consists of the following lakes:

where the Taschensee and the Great Pönitzer See drain into the Kleiner Pönitzer See, which in turn is connected to the Baltic Sea via the Gösebek . The connection between the Taschensee and the Kleiner Pönitzer See is the artificially created Danish moat , on the bottom of which runs a pipeline that regulates the water level of the Taschensee.

The conservation area has a size of around 2750 hectares and includes the lakes, the Luschendorfer Moor , the Schürsdorfer Moor and the Süseler Moor .
