The Gösebek (also Göselbek , Göschbek or Göschbeek - Low German for "Gänsebach") is a brook in Ostholstein that drains the Pönitz lake district and flows into the Baltic Sea in Scharbeutz .
Coming from the north, the Gösebek flows through the Süseler See , the Taschensee and the Kleiner Pönitzer See - from there it flows eastwards to the Baltic Sea. Between the Taschensee and the Kleiner Pönitzer See the stream is piped and runs beneath an artificially created incision, the so-called “Danish Trench”.
Originally the Gösebek flowed into the Haffkruger Lagoon until it was drained by pumping. Today it forms a drainage ditch in the lower reaches for the lagoon meadows lying below sea level, which ends in a pumping station between the districts of Scharbeutz and Haffkrug.
