The Taschensee is located near Scharbeutz in Schleswig-Holstein north of the Kleiner Pönitzer See and the federal road 432 in the immediate hinterland of the Bay of Lübeck .
It is located in Holstein Switzerland , surrounded by a hilly moraine landscape .
It is traversed by the Gösebek coming from Lake Süseler See in the north and leaving it in the south.
The water level of the Taschensee is artificially regulated by a drainage structure (" Mönch "), the drainage is piped through the so-called "Danish Trench" (also called "Danish Canal").
The lake has an irregular shape with a bay stretching far to the northeast, approx. 900 m long (north-south direction) and 700 m wide (west-east direction). It has a size of approx. 40 ha and a maximum depth of 9.6 meters.
With the fish species pike , pikeperch , perch , eel , bream and roach (roach), the Taschensee is an excellent fishing spot . The owner is the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is leased by commercial fishermen. The catchment area in the Gösebek river system covers 13 km². The lake volume is 1,990,000 m³. The mean depth is 4.9 m and it has a 3.2 km long bank.
