Pątnów ( German Pathenau , Patnow , 1943-1945 Patenau ) is a village and seat of the municipality of the same name with about 1400 inhabitants in Poland. Pątnów is located about ten kilometers south of Wieluń and about one hundred kilometers east of Breslau in the powiat Wieluński in the Łódź Voivodeship and lies on the edge of the Wieluner Heights (Wyżyna Wieluńska), a karst area.

history

In 1940, after the occupation of Poland, the village was settled by German resettlers and renamed Patenau . Mostly people of German origin from Eastern Europe were resettled here. The municipality belonged to the district of Welun in the Reichsgau Wartheland . The German residents fled the village from the Red Army in early 1945.

Pątnów has a train station on the Herby – Oleśnica railway line , and there is another stop in the Dzietrzniki district.
