PA Backer

PA Backer ( Malayalam : പി.എ. ബക്കർ ; * 1940 in Thrissur , Cochin ; † November 22, 1993 in Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala ) was an Indian director of the Malayalam film .

Life

PA Backer worked as a journalist for the newspapers "Kuttikal" and "Poomattukal", then from 1960 as an assistant to the film director Ramu Kariat . In 1969 he was the independent producer of PN Menon's Olavum Theeravum , a major New Indian Cinema work in Malayalam. Backer published the political love drama Kabani Nadi Chuvannappol as his first own directorial work in 1975 , which had to accept cuts in censorship in the context of the emergency government in India. The film influenced the work of other Keralesian directors such as John Abraham , Raveendran and TV Chandran . Backer's important films also include his subsequent socially critical films Manimuzhakkum (1976), Chuvanna Vithukal (1976) and Sanghaganam (1979). His Shri Narayana Guru (1985) received the Nargis Dutt Award for National Integration.
