The Type 120N of the Polish manufacturer PESA is a consistently niederfluriger tram - railcars .
history
The development of the Type 120N began in November 2005 following a request from the Warsaw Transport Company Tramwaje Warszawskie Sp.z oo Although the Konstal 112N type low-floor trams have been built in Poland since 1995 , they were only built in small numbers. Subsequently, low-floor trams were also imported in large numbers.
On February 22nd, 2006 the Warsaw Transport Authority placed an order for 15 units of the 120N. At the same time, the types 121N and 122N were created for meter-gauge businesses. In 2007, a total of 15 units of the basic 120N version were delivered to the Warsaw Transport Authority, where they have been in use since August 20th. All Pesa 120N from Warsaw are located in the R-3 Mokotów depot .
Based on the experience gained with these 15 units, the improved 120Na series was developed, which was delivered to Warsaw and Gdansk from mid-2010 .
technology
The 120N is a five-part articulated railcar with a 100% low floor. Only sections 1, 3 and 5 have bogies , of which only the outer ones (sections 1 and 5) are driven. The sections 2 and 4 are designed to be floating and are supported by the joints on the adjacent sections. Six outward swinging doors (one single door each in Sections 1 and 5, two double doors each in Sections 2 and 4) guarantee fast passenger changes.
Like most contemporary tram cars, the 120N was also given panorama windows with tinted panes. The design of the car front, designed as a crash absorption element , with its deep-drawn windshield and the "Evil Eye" headlights gives the 120N family a sleek look.
The passenger information system consists of internal loudspeakers including a recorder for the stop announcement, bistable display elements on the front and side of the car and single-line LED displays in the passenger compartment.
