The Type 122N of the Polish manufacturer Pesa is the meter gauge variant of the continuous low floor tram - railcar 120N from the same manufacturer.
history
In October 2006, the transport company in the central Polish city of Łódź ordered ten copies of a low-floor vehicle from Pesa, which was based on the Type 120N built for Warsaw , but should be compatible with the meter-gauge network in Łódź. This has been expanded into a suburban light rail network for several years , which creates additional demand for rolling stock.
On January 25, 2008 the first copy was delivered to Łódź. In the same year the Bydgoszcz Transport Company received two copies.
The three-part variant 121N was created for the (also meter-gauge) operation of Elbląg .
technology
The 122N is a five-part articulated multiple unit with a low-floor share of 100 percent. Only sections 1, 3 and 5 have bogies , of which only the outer ones (sections 1 and 5) are driven. The sections 2 and 4 are designed to be floating and are supported by the joints on the adjacent sections. Six outward swinging doors (one single door each in Sections 1 and 5, two double doors each in Sections 2 and 4) guarantee fast passenger changes.
Like most contemporary tram cars, the 122N was given panorama windows with tinted panes. The design of the car front, designed as a crash absorbing element , with its deep-drawn windshield and the "Evil Eye" headlights gives the 122N family an unusually sleek look for rail vehicles.
The passenger information system consists of interior loudspeakers with a recorder for the stop announcement, LED displays on the front and side of the car and in the video-monitored passenger compartment.
