The EN56 series were three-part electric multiple units of the Polish State Railways (PKP), which were mainly used in suburban traffic, initially in Silesia , later in the Łódź area . The units of the EN56 series were replaced by the EN57 and EN71 series and withdrawn between 1982 and 1984. Railcar 36 was still in Węgliniec in 2013 .

The multiple units consisted of a fixed configuration of two control cars and one railcar running in between. Scharfenberg couplings at the ends made it possible to couple several units.
