The railcars MBxd1 161-169 of the Polish State Railways are four-axle narrow gauge - railcar of the type MBxd1 with the track width mm 750th
The individual letters of the designation MBxd1 stand for
- M: Narrow gauge railcar (motorowy)
- B: second class
- x: four axes
- d: high pressure internal combustion engine
- 1: mechanical power transmission
Due to the continuing demand for vehicles, from 1964 passenger cars of the type "Bxhpi 1Aw" built by Fabryka Wagonów Świdnica from 1955 were converted into railcars. Because of this origin, the designation "1Mw" is also used for the series ("1" as type designation, "M" for railcars instead of "A" for passenger cars, "w" for narrow gauge (wąskotorowy)). The prototype for this conversion (MBxd1 161) was completed in 1964 in the workshop of Krotoszyńska Kolej Dojazdowa in Pleszew and also put into operation there. The motor acting on axles 2 and 3 is located at the end of the vehicle. This is why the railcars of this type have very different fronts, as the engine side is shaped by the large radiator. The passenger compartment is not divided; wooden benches serve as seats.
The workshop of Krośniewicka Kolej Dojazdowa in Krośniewice took over the series conversion . From 1964 to 1966, eight cars were converted into railcars there. All vehicles were initially used at Krośniewicka Kolej Dojazdowa, but after a few years the MBxd1 162-167 were given to other railways. MBxd1 168 and 169 always stayed in Krośniewice, later MBxd1 163 and at times also 167 returned to the place of their origin. At the other locations, the focus was on Wrocławska Kolej Dojazdowa in Trzebnica Gaj and Jędrzejowska Kolej Dojazdowa . From 1985 to 1993 all railcars were scrapped except for MBxd1 162 and 168. MBxd1 162 came to the Museum of Narrow Gauge Railways 750 mm in Sochaczew in 1987 . MBxd1 168 remained in use in Krośniewice and served as a reserve vehicle even after the SKPL took over the operation .
