Wilhelm "Willi" Pohlmann (born March 8, 1928 in Herne ; † March 18, 2000 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending primary school and a higher private educational establishment, Pohlmann completed a commercial training, then retrained to become a steel construction fitter and worked as a miner from 1949 to 1953. In 1946 he joined IG Metall and since 1953 he was a member of ÖTV . He joined the Herne fire brigade in 1953 , passed the examination for the high-level fire service in 1968 and was head of the Herne professional fire brigade in 1974/75 . In 2000 he died of complications from a pulmonary embolism. He is buried in the south cemetery in Herne.

Political party

Pohlmann joined the SPD in 1946. From 1955 to 1963 he was chairman of the Jusos in Herne, from 1971 to 1974 chairman of the SPD district association and since 1974 chairman of the SPD sub-district of Herne.

MP

Pohlmann was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament from 1970 to 1990 and had been the domestic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group there since 1975. From 1984 to 1994 he was a council member of the city of Herne.

Public offices

Pohlmann was Lord Mayor of the city of Herne from October 1984 to October 1994 . During his tenure, the city partnerships with Konin , Belgorod and Lutherstadt Eisleben were established.
