Horst Schiereck (born July 12, 1948 in Bochum ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was Lord Mayor of the City of Herne from 2004 to 2015.

Life

Schiereck is a high school teacher for German and social sciences and joined the SPD. He is married and has two children. In his job he taught first at the Pestalozzi High School in Herne , then as a senior teacher at the Mont Cenis Comprehensive School in the city.

Schiereck had been a member of the city council of Herne since 1984 , where he was chairman of the environmental committee until 1989 and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1994 to 2004.

Public offices

Schiereck was head of the district Eickel from 1979 to 1984 and was Lord Mayor of Herne from 2004 to October 20, 2015. In the runoff election on October 10, 2004, he achieved 63.2%, the best result of any SPD candidate in this local election in North Rhine-Westphalia . As Lord Mayor of Hernes, Horst Schiereck was a member of the RVR board . He was also deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the RVR association assembly. Horst Schiereck was confirmed as Lord Mayor on August 30, 2009 with 59.3% of the vote, for the first time for a six-year term of office.
