Hugo Peiter (born August 4, 1892 in Gödenroth, Simmern district ; † August 26, 1978 in Hattingen ) was Lord Mayor of the city ​​of Herne and NSDAP Gauamtsleiter in Westphalia-Süd .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1911, Hugo Peiter studied geodesy at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn and passed his state examination in 1916. From August 1914 to November 1918 he did military service . After the war he was a surveyor at the land registry office in Simmern and at the land registry administration of the Koblenz district government . Before he was drafted into the Wehrmacht on September 1, 1939 , he was employed as a city surveyor in Osnabrück and as an official superior in Hemer. He was commander of the Kriegskarten- and survey offices in Kharkov and Stalino and in 1943 at the instigation of the Nazi Gauleiter of Westphalia-South by " leaders decision " as Major of the Reserve dismissed from the armed forces and with the approval of the Provincial President brought to the office of Mayor of the city of Herne . On April 21, 1945 he was arrested by the Americans and taken to France as a prisoner of war . Political activity

In 1923 Peiter belonged to the German National Freedom Party and from August 1, 1925 to the NSDAP . From 1930 to 1933 he was deputy local group leader and specialist advisor to the NSDAP local group leader in Herne. From 1933 to 1938 he was a councilor in Hemer, he was also a member of the district committee and first district deputy of the Iserlohn district. He was the representative of the district administrator of the district of Iserlohn and head of the office for local politics in the NSDAP district leadership Iserlohn. From May 15, 1938 on, he worked as the Gauamtsleiter of the NSDAP Gauleitung Westfalen-Süd.
