The railcars MBxd1 201-204 of the Polish State Railways are four-axle narrow gauge - railcar of the type MBxd1 with the track width mm 750th

The individual letters of the designation MBxd1 stand for

  • M: Narrow gauge railcar (motorowy)
  • B: second class
  • x: four axes
  • d: high pressure internal combustion engine
  • 1: mechanical power transmission

Motorcar MBxd1 201 was built in 1960 at Konstal in Chorzów and delivered to Krotoszyńska Kolej Dojazdowa in Pleszew . It was the first railcar built in Poland after the Second World War for a gauge of 750 mm. It should serve as a prototype for the supply of all Polish narrow-gauge railways.

The engine is upright in the center of the vehicle. This divides the passenger compartment into two compartments. Wooden benches serve as seats.

The construction could not quite meet expectations. Therefore, the procurement of a large series was refrained from. Only in 1965 were two more railcars of the series and in 1967 a fourth. These vehicles were also delivered to Pleszew. From 1966, however, some of them were transferred to other PKP narrow-gauge railways and from 1985 to 1987 they were brought together at Wrocławska Kolej Dojazdowa in Trzebnica Gaj. They stayed there until operations ceased in 1991 and were then handed over to Krośniewicka Kolej Dojazdowa , although it had already been supplied with new MBxd2 railcars in 1986 , but had problems with their maintenance. As the only vehicle in the series to date, the MBxd1 202 was scrapped in 1997. After PKP ceased operations in 2001 and private operators took over some PKP narrow-gauge railroads, the number was reduced. The railcars 201 and 203 came to Gnieźnieńska Kolej Dojazdowa and Rogowska Kolej Wąskotorowa for tourist traffic in 2002 and 2003 , but are not operational there. MBxd1 204 will still be used in regular passenger traffic after the SKPL took over narrow-gauge operation in Krośniewice .
