The PTK ( German Post and Telecommunications Company of Kosovo , Albanian Posta dhe Telekomi i Kosovës Sh. A. , Serbian Пошта и Телецомуникације Косова Д. Д. Pošta i Telekomunikacije Kosova DD ) is the state-owned telecommunications company of Kosovo DD .
history
The company was founded in 1959 as the successor to the regional branch of the former Yugoslav state-owned company, which was the monopoly responsible for postal services , telephone connections and telegraphy services.
The collapse followed on September 30, 1990; due to a law passed by the government of Slobodan Milošević , all Albanian employees of the company had to leave the company.
All of the company's premises were destroyed during the war in Kosovo . Then the main building was rebuilt by KFOR , UNMIK and some former representatives of PTK.
On June 29, 2005 the name of Posta dhe Telekomi i Kosovës SH. A. on PTK Sh. A. Changed. On the same day, the shareholders, that is the government of Kosovo and Monaco Telecom, decided to invest 550 million euros in the company.
On June 25, 2009, PTK and other companies founded the mobile operator Plus in Albania . PTK is a partner in the company.
The PTK has the form of a stock corporation and is divided into three branches:
- The Posta e Kosovës , in charge of the postal service,
- the Telekomi i Kosovës responsible for fixed telephony and Internet
- and the mobile communications company Vala for the mobile communications sector.
In 2009 the company employed around 3,205 people.
