PYUA [ pjʊə ] is a German brand that uses only recycled and fully recyclable materials, which are manufactured according to FAIRWEAR specifications under the company's control, for their sustainable outdoor clothing . PYUA was founded in 2008 by Timo Perschke in Kiel .

history

The history of PYUA began with the vision of wanting to produce high-quality, fashionable functional clothing that is kind to the environment.

PYUA was the first outdoor lifestyle brand in the world to achieve this by concluding a cooperation agreement with Textil-Recycling K. u. A. Wenkhaus GmbH. For the first time, WENKHAUS and PYUA are developing products that are not only made from recycled materials, but can also be reprocessed in a cycle after use - so-called closed-loop recycling.

The brand name PYUA comes from the Asian and means “pure” and “clear”. These attributes stand for sustainability .

The stylized tilted 8 is the symbol of infinity and the recycling process. The circle is also a symbol of infinity and protection. The color blue stands for the water resources on earth, which are in an infinite cycle and occur in different states of aggregation .

In sum, the logo means “pure” and “infinite” and symbolizes the closed recycling cycle and the return process for PYUA products. The logo stands for consistency and the protective and respectful treatment of the environment. The clear and round shapes are a reference to harmony and nature.

“Ecorrect Outerwear” complements the logo and communicates ecological and sustainable functional clothing.

Ecological responsibility

For PYUA, sustainability is the most important guideline. PYUA develops high-quality and functional outerwear for people who respect nature and who want to shop ecologically and fairly, without sacrificing style.

Already during product development, care is taken to plan each product as sustainably as possible so that the end product can be included in PYUA's closed-loop recycling system. PYUA either tries to plan a product as pure as possible (outer fabric, membrane, lining, backing made of polyester) or it is ensured during the planning that different materials are well separated from each other during the recycling process. Remnants that cannot be fed into closed-loop recycling, such as zippers or buttons, are downcycled e.g. B. processed into inferior building materials.

Social responsibility

As a supplier of sportswear, PYUA also sees itself as a brand responsible for the global challenges associated with the textile value chain . On the one hand, this concerns the product selection and production method according to ecological standards, as well as the responsibility for the social circumstances of the service providers involved in the production process. For these reasons, PYUA is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation .

The recycling cycle

PYUA uses closed-loop recycling. PYUA uses the existing structure of the well-known used clothing containers and recycling partners to create an endless cycle for functional clothing.

  1. Collecting old PYUA products. The return takes place via the well-known used clothing container or via PYUA dealers with their own recycling box.
  2. Sorting and return of the garments.
  3. Recycling old products or manufacturing new materials.
  4. Development and design of new PYUA products.

The system, which was developed together with Textil Recycling K. & A. Wenkhaus GmbH and FWS GmbH , is, according to PYUA, unique worldwide. It is not collected in the trade, but through the used clothing containers that are set up in every city.
