Paate is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Kohtla ( Kohtla vald ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

The village has 27 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2010). It is east of the city of Kohtla-Järve on the highway between the Estonian capital Tallinn and the Russian metropolis Saint Petersburg .
