A Paco Paco is a motorized land vehicle , of which the first examples were built in western Brazil , but which have meanwhile also proven themselves elsewhere and are being sold in India, for example. They are used for different purposes. The name Paco Paco is based on the rattling engine noise.

Paco Pacos can be found especially in Mato Grosso and Rondônia . Some auto mechanics earn their living there. The engines come mainly from pump systems that were still being used in the 1980s for gold mining.

The robust vehicles are not approved for road traffic , but are still very popular due to their wide range of uses and low prices. The owners use Paco Pacos primarily to transport goods, but also to go to church on Sundays. Even racing events have already taken place.

Each example of these off-road vehicles is unique, similar to the soapbox vehicles . The repair is usually relatively easy. In contrast to the Filipino jeepneys , little attention is paid to the appearance . On the other hand, some of the Paco Pacos reach significantly more than 100, but many only around 40 km / h .

The future of Paco Pacos is uncertain as there is already a driving ban in the city of Peixoto de Azevedo .
