Paine Ridge is a saber-shaped and largely non-iced mountain ridge in northern Victoria Land . In the Usarp Mountains , it extends from DeGoes Cliff to the southwestern end of the Morozumi Range .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Roland D. Paine Jr., responsible for public relations at the National Science Foundation , who worked at McMurdo Station from 1960 to 1961 and from 1968 to 1969 .
