Paisley Pirates
The Paisley Pirates are an ice hockey club from Paisley, Scotland . The Pirates were originally founded in 1946, making them one of the oldest ice hockey clubs in Scotland. Paisley celebrated its greatest success in the 1950s. In 1954 you could win all three competitions held in Scotland, in 1959 you became British champion . After the club stopped playing in 1959, it was re-established in 1992. Since then he has played in the second highest division, currently in the Scottish National League (SNL).

Foundation and great success
The Pirates joined the re-established SNL in 1946. In 1948 the league was split into two regional divisions and Paisley won the western division. In 1951 and 1954 the Pirates won the SNL. The 1953/54 season was the most successful season for Paisley, in addition to the SNL championship one could win the Autumn Cup and the Canada Cup.
In 1954 the SNL merged with the English National League to form the British National League . After just one season, all Scottish clubs except Paisley withdrew from the league. In 1958/59 the Pirates won the British Championship. In the same year, the club had to stop playing for financial reasons.
The Pirates played in the East Lane Arena. This was closed in 1970 and demolished in 1973.
Paisley mohawks
The Pirates were succeeded by the Paisley Mohawks. These played until the East Line Arena was closed and were able to win the Autumn Cup, the Northern League, the Icy Smith Cup, the Championship cup and the Barbour Cup in the 1967/68 season.
Re-establishment of the Pirates
In 1992 the Pirates were revived. They played one season in the Scottish League and then moved to the second division, Division 1 of the British Hockey League . In 1996 this was replaced by the British National League . In 2002 the club had to withdraw into the Scottish National League (SNL) for financial reasons .
In 1997 and 2005 the Pirates won the Scottish Cup .
In 2006 the Lagoon Center, the Pirates' venue, was closed. The club moved to the Braehead Arena , where it still plays today. In 2007/08, Paisley played in the short-lived Scottish Premier League . and from 2008/09 in the Northern League. In 2010 they switched back to the SNL.
