The Braehead Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Scotland Renfrewshire , United Kingdom . It lies on the banks of the River Clyde .
history
The Braehead Arena opened in 1999. It is mainly used as the home ground of the Braehead Clan ice hockey club from the Elite Ice Hockey League and the Paisley Pirates from the Scottish National League . In the 2002/03 season, the Ayr Scottish Eagles from the Ice Hockey Superleague also played their home games in the Braehead Arena. From 2002 to 2008, the Scottish Rocks from the British Basketball League was another professional sports team based in the arena.
The arena was the venue for the 2000 World Curling Championships for men and women . The wrestling company WWE and its competitor Total Nonstop Action Wrestling hold regular events in the Renfrewshire arena. In addition, events of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and boxing matches took place in the Braehead Arena. This is also used regularly for concerts.
