history
The current palace was built between 1722 and 1737 on a previous building that had been in the possession of the Barons Brassican since the mid-16th century. An exact date is not known. The construction is attributed to Anton Ospel . In 1728 the palace came into the possession of the Lower Austrian Land Marshal Carl Ignaz Lemagh . From 1825 the palace was owned by the Count Wilczek family . The palace is located between the Palais Herberstein and Palais Modena . With the construction of the Herberstein Palace in 1897, the left wing of the courtyard threatened to collapse and was subsequently torn down. This was renewed in 1898/99 by Humbert Walcher von Moltheim and another rear wing in neo-baroque form was added. Franz Grillparzer and Joseph von Eichendorff lived in the Palais Brassican-Wilczek .
description
The 7-axis facade facing Herrengasse is structured by a 3-axis central projection with a giant pilaster. Thanks to the inclined outer pilasters, the risalit blends harmoniously into the front. The attic gable is pierced by a window in the mansard roof . The portal is roofed over by a balcony with a magnificent wrought iron grille, which is supported by two columns, supported by two atlases. Over the side window of the central projection are found in the main floor two medallions painted in 1992 male and female bust since the original stucco reliefs have been lost.
