The Palais de l'Alma is a palace -like building in the 7th arrondissement of the French capital Paris. The address is 11 Quai Branly . The Palais de l'Alma is located on the left bank of the Seine in the immediate vicinity of the Pont de l'Alma bridge on Quai Branly . Like the bridge, it is named after the Battle of the Alma . The palace extends from Quai Branly in the north to its parallel street, Rue de l'Université . To the east it is bounded by the Trinity Cathedral, completed in 2016, and the buildings belonging to it of the Russian Orthodox Cultural Center. To the west it borders the Musée du quai Branly .

The central part of the palace is a corps de logis on Quai Branly. This is bordered on each side by an L-shaped side wing that continues to the south. At the southern end of the courtyard enclosed by these three buildings, there is a riding arena centered on the axis of symmetry in north-south direction , the southern end of which ends at the Rue de l'Université . To the west of this ensemble, which is symmetrically designed around the north-south axis, there are various auxiliary buildings.

Part of the complex, initially built for the imperial house, was used by an officers' school (École d'État-Major supérieure de la guerre) in the 19th century . In 1881 the ensemble was given to the President of the III. Republic left for use, who should set up his stables there.

From 1888, part of the building was used by the state weather service and the statistical office, and since 1947 only by the Office national météorologique , the forerunner of Météo-France .

At the beginning of the 21st century, the ground floor of the east wing was still used by Météo-France ; the northern part of the west wing housed the Conseil supérieur de la magistrature .

As of 2007, the President's post office, with over 100 employees, and the gallery of gifts received by the Presidents during their tenure, were also housed in the Palais de l'Alma.

The total area of ​​the apartments in the Palais, most of which are available for members of the presidential office and a smaller part for close employees of the president, was around 5300 square meters in 2009. According to the presidential office, there were 6 cabinet members among the 55 residents. In 2018, according to the Élysée, 51 apartments were occupied in the Palais.
