The Palamos class is a three-ship heavy lift class . The ships were built between 1996 and 1999 for the Harren & Partner shipping company , with two ships being chartered to CombiLift. The ships all have small deviations and tolerances from one another, but are assigned to a ship class.

Technical specifications

The Palamos was built at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast, the Patria and Parida at the Pendik Tersanesi shipyard near Istanbul in Turkey. The ships are about 101 m long heavy lift carriers with a width of about 18 m and a maximum draft of almost 7 m. The carrying capacity of the ships is between 5,100 and 5,700 dwt . The ship type is known as Ro - Heavy lift designed -Carrier, that is, charge driven both on-board and can also be lifted as well. The maximum hoisting capacity of cranes is different: In the Palamos were 2 x 100-t-cranes (combined in tandem 200 t) installed, which Patria was washed with 2 x 150-t-cranes (combined 300 t) equipped with the Parida were 2 × 60 t cranes (combined 120 t) installed. The cranes are all from Liebherr .

The total loading space capacity fluctuates between 9,300 m³ and 10,900 m³. The loading area can be loaded with up to 10 t / m². Thanks to the 5,280 kW main engine from MAN , the maximum speed of the ships is around 15 kn. The Palamos was classified by Bureau Veritas , her two sister ships by Germanischer Lloyd .

The superstructures of all ships are arranged at the front. This has the advantage, on the one hand, that the loading area is much larger than with a conventional construction, and on the other hand, the deck load is better protected against impact from the sea or the like. In addition, this makes a rear ramp possible.
