Palazzo Pubblico (San Marino)
The Palazzo Pubblico in San Marino is also the town hall and seat of the Consiglio Grande e Generale , the parliament and the government of the small state, the Capitani Reggenti , the Consiglio dei XII and the Congresso di Stato .
The neo - Palace stands on the Monte Titano ; it was built between 1884 and 1894; its predecessor dates from 1380 to 1392. The last restoration was completed in September 1996 by Gae Aulenti .
The palazzo is depicted on the lapel of San Marino's two euro coin .
Statua della Libertà
On the Piazza della Libertà in front of the Palazzo stands the Statua della Libertà (Statue of Liberty). It is made of white Carrara marble . It is the work of the sculptor Stefano Galletti and goes back to a donation from Countess Otilia Heyroth Wagener from Berlin in 1876. Its design corresponds to that of a classic city goddess: it shows a resolutely advancing warrior. She holds a San Marino flag in her left hand, and holds out her right hand protectively. She wears a wall crown on her head , a typical symbol of urban self-determination.
The Statue of Liberty is depicted on the San Marinese 2 euro cent coins .
